The 683 nm, 5.0 mW laser diode listed for the Keyence MD-X2000 should not automatically be assumed to be the primary processing laser.
The system may contain separate visible guide, aiming, or distance-sensing lasers in addition to the primary operating laser.
For this reason, laser safety protection should be selected based on the actual operating wavelength or wavelengths that could present a hazardous exposure, rather than simply selecting protection for the first wavelength listed on the equipment.
For an MD-X2000 configuration using a 1064 nm operating laser, the selected laser safety viewing window should provide appropriate protection at 1064 nm and sufficient optical density for the reasonably foreseeable worst-case exposure conditions at the window.
